Quarter Glass & Encapsulation

Project Goal: Design and tool glass and encapsulation systems for the front and rear quarter glass positions on the FF91 passenger vehicle.

Role: Design engineer / release engineer

Details:

• Brought two systems through full product lifecycle (using CATIA V6), from concept to fully tooled pre-production parts:

  • Front quarter glass system

    • Front quarter glass (tempered glass)

    • Front quarter glass encapsulation (EPDM)

  • Rear quarter glass system

    • Rear quarter glass (tempered glass)

    • Rear quarter glass encapsulation (EPDM)

• Supported supplier engagement and selection.

• Led relationships with three suppliers and worked closely with them on designs. Coordinated manufacturing logistics between three suppliers.

• Defined GD&T scheme for both quarter glass systems.

• Hosted on-site conferences with suppliers.

• Worked with manufacturing team to optimize design for manufacturing and to outline part installation procedure.
